Abby has taken on an expanded role as part of the Fellowship as a Senior Advisor and Central Liaison with the New York City Department of Education. Abby is also continuing her work as the Senior Director of Instruction for the Special Education Office within the New York City Department of Education, where she is responsible for planning and leading the instructional team in their work around literacy, transition, behavior, and quality IEPs. Prior to this role, Abby was the principal of Bronx Design and Construction Academy (BDCA), a public school in New York City. Abby led BDCA to an over 20% graduation increase while building a Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards-aligned instructional program that offered both CTE state certifications as well as Advanced Placement courses to prepare all students for multiple career and college pathways. As the founding assistant principal, she led the development of BDCA’s highly successful special education program and achieved 100% of students moving to a less restrictive environment and the decertification of up to 15% of students annually.

Abby holds an M.Ed. in Administration from Columbia University, an M.A. in Special Education from Pace University, and a B.A. and B.S. from the University of Oregon. She is currently working towards her doctorate at Johns Hopkins University.
